“My apprenticeship improved my confidence, taught me how to communicate with people and it also taught me about the real world and how things work.”
After completing a course as an apprentice electrician with Interserve, Luke Garrison now works as a project officer for Interserve’s estates department at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.
Luke believes an apprenticeship was the perfect route for him to take because he preferred working with his hands on real-life projects rather than undertaking theoretical and academic work.
He also feels that in many ways he is better off than university graduates because he now has four years of work experience, qualifications gained on the job and a good range of ‘life skills’.
