Overcoming isolation in silo working

Colin Braidwood, head of sustainability, recently discussed with The Environmentalist how Interserve tackles the silo mentality –  a mind-set whereby certain departments or sectors do not wish to share information with others in the same company.

The silo mentality can afflict larger, more diverse businesses and prove a real blocker for those trying to embed sustainable principles and protocols. By looking at facilities management, sustainability professionals can see how the industry has embraced a collaborative approach to develop a universal understanding of sustainability across a large workforce and varied business. By working with teams at all levels, Interserve has been able to bring sustainability to life and align everyone with the company’s vision and values.
