30 Hilariously Weird Dating Stories That People Have Shared On Twitter
One day, several years ago, I got a text from a guy named Rob…. An image of Rob floated into my mind: dark hair, short stature. I was surprised yet happy to hear from him, and we made a date for the following week. The day of the date arrived. I walked up to the bar, smoothing my hair in that excited-yet-anxious way reserved exclusively for those moments leading up to dates and interviews.
I scanned the bar. I saw no Rob. I squinted. It was a slightly familiar looking stranger — very tall and very blond. How did I know that guy? This Rob was a work acquaintance I had begrudgingly shared my number with and never expected to see again. But now he thought we were on a date. Because, technically, we were. Rob was a bit of an aggrandizer. The kitchen is huge! After far too much of this, the accidental date was over. Forever after, I was careful to put last names — or at the very least descriptions — into my phone.
Great dating advice and the ultimate first date uniform. Ok here is mine. So I knew this guy and he really liked me. He gets a bunch of tickets to a play and invites a lot of people. He is in charge of tickets and he sits down next to me. I had no idea what was going on right away. He kept trying to hold my hand. I kept declining it. Finally got to intermission and after I came back from the bathroom he grabbed my glasses like he wanted me to fight him for them back. I refused to acknowledge that any of this was going on.
I left and that was that. And then one day we were sitting next to each other during a conference and as i was running out of papers he kindly offered me some of his. I was mortified. I smiled and blushed and wanted to disappear. A few months later as i was convinced that i would never have the courage to approach him , i spent a whole week trying to write him a fb message.
I finally got that perfectly engineered message sent and i crossed my fingers for good results. Two weeks later two stressful , desperate weeks dare i say he reached out to me. I was extremely excited to read his message. I read it more than you could ever imagine. The next day i checked my fb hoping for a message and … Surprise …. He had changed his profile picture.
In the new profile he was there , holding hands with a girl in paris. Probably his girlfriend. I guess his message was clear. Needless to say i never reached out to him ever again. It was supposed to be a short walk because he had injured his foot a week earlier and walked with a limp.
Needless to say, this intuition was absolutely nonexistent none of us had ever been a scout but we still trusted in it and refused to check our GPS until there was no signal to actually use it. We got totally lost in the woods and it got dark.
I had talked about being afraid in dark forests earlier and was trying to not freak out in front of this guy whose company I actually enjoyed a lot. The summer night became quite cold, I wanted to use a toilet, and he was probably having a lot a pain limping all night long. But we joked about being the very worst scout team of the world all the way back. Instead of the short walk we had intended originally, we spent 6 hours together on our first meeting until we had found our way back to where we had parked our bikes.
It was after midnight then. When I finally arrived at home I realized I had various messages from my best friend and flatmates worrying when I would come home or half-joking whether the limping guy had already buried me somewhere. For a while after, I lost all credit of being a human being capable of navigation.
I was not even trusted by my best friend to find my way to the local supermarket. I was on a tinder date with a guy and the conversation was going better than I had expected.
About an hour and a half into our conversation, I saw a wave of terror cross his face and he asked me if my sister was Michelle, and I said yes. He then told me they had dated!! We kissed at the end of the night and all I could think about was him kissing my sister. Needless to say there was no second date! My husband and I dated long distance in college, but by his second year, most people knew he had a girlfriend it was a small school, he was in a fraternity.
He decided not to overthink it, and said he would get the next one. My husband calmed her down, and insisted they finish their meal so they could at least be friends. He paid her back for his lunch, and went out of his way to be nice the rest of the semester. She was super nice about it, and actually attended our wedding! Not the worst but one of the spookiest dates. Around Halloween too!
Met online, agreed to grab coffee. I walk in, he sits by the bar. First thing I notice — jeans are the same color, mine are ripped on the right knee and his on the left we sit next to each other. Just like me. Looking closer at his face I notice that he has a mole on his left cheek I have one on the right. Except his hair is short and darker. But the faces are almost identical.
We laugh it off but it is somewhat disturbing. Have a pretty good conversation but this whole situation is just so weird. We stayed friends. Even showed it to my mom- she was joking about my lost twin. Went on a date with a girl I met at a dance club. We met up at a bar, had a few drinks…she had a lot more than me and was soon pretty drunk. We decided to head to a new spot. On the way, she insisted she had to stop somewhere on the street to pee. We were 2 blocks away from the next bar so I told her to wait, but she decided that was too far and went to an alley.
Instead of hiding behind a dumpster, she proceeded to drop her pants 3 feet from the sidewalk in full view and made me hold her hand while she peed. I was obvi done with the date then, but worried about leaving her alone and she refused to go home.
We went to the next bar and had water while she tried to pressure me to have sex in the bathroom. After that I got her a ride home and that was the last we saw of each other. I was recently out of college, recently single, and happy to meet just about anyone for the chance at a connection or, barring that, at least a fun hook-up.
For our second date, Joe invited me to a party at his house. I was having a great time, feeling like I was connecting well with his friends and even exchanging numbers with a couple of the women there, making plans for future hangouts. I played it cool, put my clothes on and went back upstairs, where the people I had hoped to befriend said they had heard us having sex.
Mortified, I drove home. Evidently his girlfriend had come over, discovered the necklace in his bedroom, and flown into a rage and ripped it apart, scattering the beads everywhere. He offered to replace it and I accepted, but a few days later received a message from his girlfriend, who also apologized and said she would pay for the necklace.
I was so gobsmacked that I sat there staring at my screen for a moment and then burst into tears. I met a medical doctor on tinder. So he took the roll of toilet paper from the en-suite and snuck to the garage where he pooped, used the TP left the pile and TP there. Then when back to bed. Awhile later she woke up and went to the bathroom to discover there was no TP. On her way through the room to get some she noticed the garage light was on, peered out and saw the mound of shit and her TP, and woke him up to confront him about the pile of weird.
He though the whole thing was hilarious and a charming date story.
